There is no place to wind the thread. I suspect that this tool is used to transfer a thread/yarn or stitch. I make bobbin lace and crochet/knitting is not something that I am well verses in. I hope this helps!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14698664569783203770noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6831414802619591713.post-49290377709788181722011-07-05T05:54:56.913-07:002011-07-05T05:54:56.913-07:00Hello! As small as that one is, it was probably used for light cotton yarn. It is very pretty! Great finds! I have sometimes wondered how the holes were made to start the first row of a lace edge on fabric. It seems that a hook would not be sharp enough. Maybe that's what that first tool is for. Hope you're lovin summer!Jacqueline~Cabin and Cottagehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01043224721237700695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6831414802619591713.post-55569190174674708592011-06-25T16:47:57.204-07:002011-06-25T16:47:57.204-07:00That would be 4 and 7/8 long. The reason is that just yesterday, I found something very similar, also bakelite, in my grandmother's things. It's about 5 or 5.5 inches long. It also tells me what it is...an orange peeler. I'll take a pic and post it sometime soon and we can compare notes.

I also have some of that yarn in your last picture, but have no idea what it is or how it is used. (I use it to tie up pretty packages. ☺ )Veehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00618654361869856894noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6831414802619591713.post-1163029820552522092011-06-25T09:40:24.964-07:002011-06-25T09:40:24.964-07:00Yay for you Valerie! The crochet hooks are gorgeous!! Is the grey yarn a mohair? It's hard to tell from the photo. The cone of white cotton is a fantastic find! I actually have quite a few of the last photo. I'll send you an exact content as soon as I go check out the label. As to your blogger issue, I do have a solution for you there. If you go to your blogger sign in and unclick the "keep me signed in" you should be able to go back to commenting. I don't know why this makes the difference but it seems to work!...Nancy :o)Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03802813041770354976noreply@blogger.com
